Lord Fakafanua, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, is currently in Jakarta, Indonesia to participate in the 2nd Indonesian Pacific Parliamentary Partnerships (IPPP) Meeting from 24-27 July 2024. The meeting is hosted at the invitation of the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, HE Hon. Dr. Puan Maharani, under the theme "Partnership for Prosperity: Fostering Regional Connectivity."

The IPPP Meeting aims to promote parliamentary diplomacy and dialogue, facilitating collaboration between Indonesia and Pacific nations to enhance opportunities for a peaceful and prosperous Pacific region. Lord Fakafanua has been appointed as a co-chair of the meeting at the request of HE Hon. Dr. Puan Maharani, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthen regional ties and cooperation.

A total of 11 Parliament Speakers from across the Pacific region are attending this significant event in Jakarta, accompanied by Members and senior parliamentary staff. Their attendance demonstrates the importance of fostering parliamentary partnerships and diplomacy in advancing regional connectivity and mutual prosperity.

The Lord Speaker is accompanied by Hon. Dulcie Tei, People's Representative for Tongatapu 6 as well as the Chief Clerk, Mrs. Gloria Pole'o and Legislative Counsel, Ms. Silivia 'Atiola.
